Membership forms have been mailed this year, rather than emailed as this is what was requested by the general membership. CLICK HERE for the membership form Covid has causes issues across the globe and for the safety of our members we have decided to postpone our AGM & Awards until 2021.
This doesn't mean we stop working for our members, we are keeping in the loop with government programs, filling out surveys, taking Zoom calls and being proactive for our association members. Business Owners check www.NOTO.ca for up to date factual information on opening, cleaning and managing covid-19 in your business. NOTO is a great resource on cleaning products, government regulations and more! NOTO relies on membership to advocate on our behalf. Some People are open for boat docking and marinas to prepare boats for the *hopefully* upcoming season. See Below. Many great organizations are brainstorming this including RTO12/Explorers Edge. I am attaching a list of programs and funding available so far, click on the bullet points to view a pdf. With the Emergency Order for the province likely extended until May 31 or June 2 it means our operations in tourism accommodation will remain closed for that time. I have included a list of resources for you to keep up to date on what is happening in our industry. I encourage everyone to answer all of the surveys that you can and take part in the regular webinars. We do not want our region to be invisible. We are in the process of completely revamping our website so that it suits the needs of all of our members and is more user friendly. We have a partnership in the works with Explorer's Edge/RTO12 that will allow for further marketing & branding of the region. It doesn't matter if you are a home based business, farm, tourism provider, restaurant, or a local contractor...the LRBA has services that will benefit your growing business. We also have members who are outside of the Loring-Restoule area, that we in this region depend upon such as pharmacies, feed stores, lawyers and more. If you are within our region, or support this region we encourage you to join us. The New website and brochure offer a directory for those who live, visit and cottage here. Our strength is in our membership, and the more members we have the greater our impact will be along with the ability to promote our beautiful region and in turn your business! We have a slight change in our fee schedule this year, membership has increased to $160 for 2019. If you get your payment in before January 1st 2019, you still pay the $150. The slight increase was needed as we have a number of initiatives and partnership programs that will help to promote our region, including revamping the website to be more user friendly to both business and tourists. Content Marketing with Explorers Edge (RTO12) will assist in helping us reach US customers through Facebook. We will be having a Content Marketing Training Session this year, the time and date have yet to be determined. There will be a sign-up request for this session once dates become firmed up. Friends of the Loring Deer Yard Trail has been created on www.lrba.ca and Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LoringDeerYardTrail The feedback we have received on the trail system has been phenomenal and we should all be proud to celebrate this eco & heritage site in our region. We Have TWO websites to showcase the region. www.loringrestoule.com (Site is being completely remade in 2019) is focused on telling our story to tourists, and connecting them to your business. www.lrba.ca is for the organization to keep you in the loop on ongoing projects, committee’s and volunteer opportunities as well as fundraising for the Deer Yard Trail. Our AGM was held this year at Roxies Diner, and we thank them for their excellent meal & hospitality. The winner of our Tourism Business Award was Jake Weller of Jakes Place Restaurant, for his promotion of trails, and making our region a known destination among the motorcycle touring crowd. New this year was our Volunteer Award which went to Elaine Dare of Beautiful Wilson Lake Resort for her many years supporting the region with the LRBA, local events Trash & Treasures and more. The 2019 Board is Hilary Chambers, Gary Mcfadyen, Jaimie Board, Owen Van Ooyen, Bill Chambers, David Sheepway, Barb Dougherty, Tamara Matthews & Tom Beck as member at Large. Thank you to those who took part in our social media session co-hosted with Explorers Edge and the Google Business seminar with Saner Media. Discussion by members as to overage. Polly Rupert asked for an explanation of Deer Yard expenses and whether they were ongoing at these amounts or a one of. Hilary explained signage and brushing out expenses were a one time, but some ongoing expenses would occur. Need to create “Friends of the Deer Yard” to encourage donations to offset expense. Excess brochures will be given to who needs them Highway signs one of expense to upgrade. New members Minnehaha Ian & Joan owners for 1.5 years. They had 18 teams compete in their fishing tournament, 26lbs was the winning weight. Dave from Restoule Provincial Park, wants to increase visitor stays at the park.
