Loring-Restoule Business Assoc.Meeting MinutesOctober 12, 2017OpeningThe AGM of the  Loring-Restoule Business Assoc. was called to order at 6pm on 10/12/17 at the Commanda Community Centre by Elaine Dare.

Open IssuesAGM: Venue Commanda Community Centre Date: October 12 2017
Action Item: Jaime to contact them for venue rental and organize catering. Ideas for food, wraps or formal sit down? Keep cost low. Or purchase platters from grocery store?  Wine-special event permit (David to supply wine)
Action Item: Hilary to locate last years minutes from 2016 AGM, send invite to membership.
New snowmobile trail signs were popular wayfinding

Financials

We went over our projected budget by $5,341.32, but still have over $16,000 in the bank.
Discussion by members as to overage. Polly Rupert asked for an explanation of Deer Yard expenses and whether they were ongoing at these amounts or a one of. Hilary explained signage and brushing out expenses were a one time, but some ongoing expenses would occur. Need to create “Friends of the Deer Yard” to encourage donations to offset expense.
Excess brochures will be given to who needs them
Highway signs one of expense to upgrade.

New BusinessWe need to increase our membership in 2018!
Figure out what we want to promote moving forward
Small Budget, BIG results. Remember Bigger isn’t better, BETTER is better!
We have 2 websites! www.loringrestoule.com and www.lrba.ca
Tom & Laura Delandrey their new business The Port Shores has 3 tour boats and will open next spring. Hospitality Area, specialty coffee, gift shop, conference room, they will feed groups and hold conferences. Paddle boards, kayak, canoe rentals. * Beach is open to the public.
New members Minnehaha Ian & Joan owners for 1.5 years. They had 18 teams compete in their fishing tournament, 26lbs was the winning weight.
Dave from Restoule Provincial Park, wants to increase visitor stays at the park.

Wood chips still need to be brought there
